More and more adults want straighter teeth and there is a large variety of systems now available, a total of 16 in fact; choosing one depends entirely on the patient’s preference for value, speed or aesthetic appeal. The benefits go beyond looks too; straight teeth are easier to clean and teeth that bite together properly don’t wear out as quickly.
At Aquae Sulis we tailor treatment to the patient. Orthodontic treatment takes a while so we want to be sure it fits into the patient’s lifestyle and they feel comfortable with it, physically and emotionally.
We offer some excellent discreet and short term options for people with moderate crowding who would prefer to keep their treatment secret, particularly popular with people working in public facing roles. Invisalign is a well known removal aligner system that can fix mild to moderate cases of misalignment; the patient is given a series of clear gumshield-like appliances to wear which they change every 2 weeks.
A great deal of preparatory work goes into orthodontic treatment and this begins at the initial consultation where we will produce a 3 dimensional scan of the mouth and begin looking at viable options to deliver the patient’s vision.
Part of our responsibility is to leave teeth at the end of treatment in a stable position, protecting the patient from the nightmare of a relapse and further orthodontic treatment.
Obviously this is important for a number of reasons, not least because of the time and money implications, but also because unstable teeth are in far greater danger of being permanently damaged over time as they come into contact awkwardly with other teeth and lose enamel.
All this means that when we recommend a type of treatment to patients it is offered as a way of providing a long-term and stable solution to misalignment, not a short term cosmetic fix. We don’t want you to have to come back for anything more than check-ups, hygiene appointments and teeth whitening.
Invisalign
The state-of-the-art digital treatment planning tools mean you only need short and usually non-invasive visits to your Invisalign Provider every 4 to 8 weeks. We’ll provide you with your next series of aligners to take home – so you can change them every 1-2 weeks, wherever you might be.
Aligners made from SmartTrack material are more comfortable, trimmed to your exact gum line to fit better, and are easy to put in and take out. They’re also less painful than braces.
As the aligners are removable, you can easily take them in and out to continue enjoying the food you love without any restrictions. For those who participate in contact sports, Invisalign clear aligners can be removed before you play.
