As you are aware, we are experiencing an unprecedented global health crisis with COVID 19. Until now, Aquae Sulis Dental Practice has been continuing to operate as normal. Today, the Chief Dental Officer for England has issued new guidelines for dental practices. They recognise that dental practices work under excellent cross infection procedures. However, the guidelines advise that we try and limit the number of dental appointments, to reduce unnecessary social contacts. As such, it is prudent to suspend all routine dental examinations and hygiene visits.
Many of you will have appointments already scheduled at the practice. Please note that your appointments will not be cancelled unless we contact you.
We plan to assess each appointment on a need basis and continue with the appointments as necessary. You must decide yourselves as to whether you wish to attend the practice at this time, and we will help in that decision. Obviously, if you have any symptoms or been in contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 than you will need to refer to NHS 111 for treatment. We cannot treat anyone who falls into these criteria at the practice.
I and my team will be available to treat any emergencies during this time and please telephone the practice on 01225 339767 as usual.
We will continue to review the latest advice and will contact you as things develop.
To recap; we will contact all our patients who have existing appointments to discuss whether these can be postponed. Any patients with a dental emergency should contact the practice on the usual number.
We wish you the very best now and in the future. Stay well and we will come through this together.
Ian Bellamy and all the team at Aquae Sulis Dental
